Bio of a scenic photographer
We resonate with nature! Yes we do. Something happens inside us when we view a compelling scenic photograph of great beauty. And it is this connection with the natural world which drives my quest for sharing photos of aesthetic splendor with others who then may also appreciate the landscape. It also forms the basis for my motto printed on my business card: “Landscapes which resonate with life”.
Currently I am a member of the Artists’ Coalition of Flagstaff (ACF) and have displayed my work in their gallery in the Flagstaff Mall over the last few years. One of my images from “Maligne Lake” in Canada was selected for use in a 2012 wall calendar on “The Canadian Rockies”.
Every year I participate in the annual Flagstaff Open Studios and other “Marketplace” venues which the ACF sponsors.
I first began my interest in scenic photography from visiting a friend who lived in Phoenix in the late '70's while on vacation. A few more visits to Arizona with the Arizona Highways "photo adventure" tours and I was positioned to create more scenic images on my own.
“I always endeavor to create landscapes and nature photographs which evoke an inspirational or cheerful mood to the viewer. Since I often do hiking on my photo trips, this allows me to shoot scenes which are new or special.” My main locations are from landscapes of western North America including Canada and Mexico. However most recently I toured Iceland and shot some really unique scenes there.
